The Gorge Zipline Featured in Travel + Leisure Guide to Saluda, North Carolina

Travel + Leisure recently featured Saluda, North Carolina, in a travel guide highlighting the mountain town’s charm, outdoor adventure, river views, and Blue Ridge setting.

One of the featured adventure experiences was The Gorge Zipline, a course built by Challenge Design Innovations.

The article describes The Gorge Zipline as a high-flying canopy tour that bills itself as the “steepest and fastest” zip line canopy tour in the country. It also notes that the experience includes 11 zip lines across dramatic mountain terrain above the Green River Gorge.

That is what makes The Gorge such a memorable project.

Guests do not just ride a few lines through the trees. They step directly off the mountainside, move across treetops and cliffsides, and experience the Green River Gorge from a perspective most people never get to see. Travel + Leisure also highlights the course’s hands-free braking system, which lets riders focus on the views and the experience.

For CDI, The Gorge is a strong example of how a zipline tour can work with the land instead of feeling placed on top of it.

The terrain shapes the experience. The elevation creates the momentum. The views become part of the design.

A well-built zipline canopy tour should feel exciting, but it should also feel intentional. The route, platforms, pacing, guest flow, braking system, and natural setting all work together to create something guests remember long after the tour ends.
