The Gorge Zipline Featured in Video as One of America’s Steepest and Fastest Zipline Tours
A video titled “The Steepest And Fastest Zipline in the United States” highlights The Gorge Zipline, an adventure experience in Saluda, North Carolina. The video has been online for years, but it still captures what makes this project stand out: speed, elevation, forest views, and a zipline experience built around the natural landscape.
Challenge Design Innovations was proud to build The Gorge Zipline.
The Gorge is a tree-based zipline canopy tour perched on the rim of the Green River Gorge. Guests descend 1,100 vertical feet as they move from tree to tree across 11 ziplines, a sky bridge, and 3 rappels. The course covers more than a mile of cable through the Green River Gorge area.
That combination is what makes the project so memorable.
It is not just a zipline ride.
It is a full canopy tour experience. Guests start high, move through the trees, cross the gorge, take in mountain views, and work their way down through a dramatic natural setting. The course uses the terrain instead of fighting against it, which is a big part of what makes the experience feel so connected to the place.
For CDI, projects like The Gorge show what is possible when design, construction, and site conditions all work together.
A great zipline tour should feel exciting. But it should also feel intentional. The layout, pacing, platforms, transitions, and guest experience all matter.
The Gorge continues to be a strong example of how a well-designed zipline canopy tour can become a signature outdoor attraction for a region.
