Project Overview

We designed and built the UI Challenge Course, a multi-level, experiential challenge course created to support university well-being, team building, and student development. Open to undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, staff, and even community members, the course aims to enhance communication, cooperation, and problem-solving through fun, active engagement.

What We Delivered

  • A versatile Challenge Course featuring both low and high elements:
    • 8 low elements (ground to ~10 ft high) designed for teamwork and critical thinking.
    • 22 high elements (tiered at 13 ft and 25 ft), including a zip line

Why This Project Stands Out

  • Campus well-being integration: The Challenge Course is part of UI’s strategy for active, experiential education and student mental health via Recreation Services.

  • Inclusive challenge levels: Offers a range of activities, from low to high elements, that appeal to novices and experienced participants alike.
  • Mobile and flexible: The portable team-building program brings active learning across campus, increasing impact and adaptability.
