Lewis County Park Adds a Ropes Course Above Its New Adventure Golf Attraction

At Lewis County Park in West Virginia, visitors can now look up from a round of mini golf and see another adventure overhead. A high ropes course with zip lines sits above the park’s new 18-hole adventure golf course, bringing two activities together in one outdoor space.

Challenge Design Innovations (CDI) partnered with Greenspan on the project, helping deliver the ropes course elments of the attraction. Greenspan led the broader park project, which includes the adventure golf course, landscaping and water features.

A new reason to visit Lewis County Park

Lewis County leaders wanted to expand recreation for local families and give visitors from surrounding areas another reason to come to the park. The resulting Extreme Adventure area brings together mini golf, a high ropes course and zip lines. The ropes course’s position above the golf course makes the activities feel like parts of one destination.

The golf course draws on West Virginia’s landscape and history. Visitors encounter a cave, waterfall, bridge and carved wildlife, along with details inspired by the region’s coal and railroad heritage. Greenspan designed the course on a hillside, incorporating the slope and water feature into the attraction.

CDI’s role in the project

CDI worked with Greenspan on the high ropes course elements of the Lewis County Park project. For a public park, adding an aerial activity alongside an attraction like mini golf creates more ways for families and groups to spend time on site. It also calls for close coordination among the teams working within the same space.

The Extreme Adventure area opened in October 2025. Greenspan reports that it has since drawn interest from visitors beyond Lewis County. We’re glad to have played a part in a project that gives the community another way to get outside together.
